Optional focus
Fear
Notice what is happening now and what you predict. Choose a point of support or suitable help.
An everyday example
A short presentation to the team is planned for tomorrow. There is no immediate danger in the room during preparation, but an image of becoming completely stuck in front of the audience appears.
The personal thought in this example
I will freeze and will not manage even the first sentence.
A connected question
Would an anchor in the room or rehearsing only the opening be more useful now?
From a question to a small attempt
What could be tried
One option is to notice the support of the chair or an object in the room, with eyes open and at a comfortable pace. If preparation fits, just the opening sentence can be written and tried once. There is no need to imagine a successful presentation or the audience’s response.
What to check afterwards
Did the anchor suit the moment, or did the opening become more usable? Fear and usefulness are separate reports. Tomorrow’s presentation has not happened yet.
An important boundary
A report of present danger is not reframed as merely a thought. The exercise can stop at any time; uncomfortable imagery and changing the breath are never required.
