Optional focus
Unrequited love
Make room for a feeling, your boundary or a needed pause.
An everyday example
Someone important has clearly said that they want a friendship. The wish for closeness remains, and an encounter or message brings back hope followed by disappointment.
The personal thought in this example
I keep returning to the possibility that they might change their mind.
A connected question
What could support you now while respecting the boundary they have stated?
From a question to a small attempt
What could be tried
A pause, a note about the feeling or a personal boundary around messages and meetings are possible starting points. A sentence for oneself might be: “My wish is still here, and the other person has said what they want.” Only wording that fits the person’s experience needs to be kept.
What to check afterwards
Did the chosen attempt make room for the feeling or clarify a boundary? Attachment does not have to disappear. Any decision about contact remains separate from what was prepared in the exercise.
An important boundary
Persuading the other person, renewing contact or quickly “letting go” is not prescribed. Their stated boundary remains important information, while the choice of personal space remains the user’s.
