Optional focus
Confidence
Look at a specific moment before it becomes a judgment about your whole self.
An everyday example
At a meeting, an answer to one question was not immediately available. The information was found later, but the impression of that moment grows into a judgement about overall ability.
The personal thought in this example
If I did not know the answer immediately, I am not capable of this job.
A connected question
Which specific fact about that event can be separated from a judgement about you as a person?
From a question to a small attempt
What could be tried
A draft could say: “I did not have the answer to one question then. I found the information later.” If that matches the account, a small next choice could be preparing that information for another conversation. A supportive sentence needs to be believable rather than empty praise.
What to check afterwards
Is the note more precise, and has a specific step been prepared? This does not measure lasting confidence. Uncertainty can still be present alongside a useful result.
An important boundary
One event does not establish a permanent trait. A genuine need for knowledge, feedback or better working conditions is not replaced with an affirmation.
