Optional focus
Expectations
Clarify what you want, what you ask of yourself and what you can influence.
An everyday example
A gathering at home is being planned after a demanding work week. Time is limited, and wanting a pleasant evening turns into a demand that every guest must be satisfied.
The personal thought in this example
If everything is not right, I will disappoint everyone.
A connected question
What would count as a good enough arrangement for this occasion, within the time that actually exists?
From a question to a small attempt
What could be tried
A wish can be separated from an obligation: a pleasant gathering is a wish, while other people’s moods are not entirely within one person’s control. A personal choice might be a simpler meal or agreed help. One workable criterion is chosen without prescribing a perfect outcome.
What to check afterwards
Does the chosen criterion make it clearer what is enough this time? Its acceptability can be reviewed now; whether the arrangement was actually used is a separate later report.
An important boundary
Having a wish is not a mistake. The focus does not remove ambition or real responsibilities. It helps distinguish whose demand is involved and what is possible now.
